Ash (european) - (Fraxinus excelsior
Family: Oleaceae
Distribution: Grows throughout Europe, North Africa and Western Asia.
Details: Ash has the best growth on hill terrain, where there are good movement in the waterunderground.
Trees has been measured up to 60 meter with a diameter of 1 meter.
Uses: The nice looking wood and the qualities in toughness, combined with it's widespread growth has made it the prime wood for sports- and strikingtool handles. Also handles for garden tools and many car- and boat builders has used Ash in their work.
Because it's steambend very nicely, much furniture has been made from Ash.
